There nothing quite like a bit of spring baking to get you into a festive mood. If simnel cake isn’t really your thing, you’ll find plenty of Easter chocolate cakes here to inspire you.
Creme Egg Drip Cake
For something a little different to a simnel cake for Easter this year, how about this jaw dropping creme egg drip cake from The Baking Explorer? It’s a three layer chocolate cake filled and covered with vanilla buttercream, decorated with a chocolate ganache drip and lots of Creme Eggs.
Chocolate Hedgehog Cake
Johanna’s daughter Sylvia is a very lucky girl. I would have loved to have a birthday hedgehog cake when I was a child. I’ve always had a fondness for hedgehogs AND chocolate cake. Doesn’t he look cute?
Mincemeat Easter Cake
A lightly fruited cake made with leftover mincemeat. It’s covered with marzipan, but decorated with homemade chocolate truffle apostles instead of the traditional marzipan ones. From me at Tin and Thyme.
Easter Chocolate Cake
Well you can’t have too many Easter eggs at Easter I say and what a lovely collection of mini eggs this Easter chocolate cake sports. I’m rather taken with Good Egg Foodie’s square bundt tin too.
Chocolate Orange Daisy Cake
Another Easter extravaganza from Karen of Lavender and Lovage. This time it’s the chocolate orange daisy cake she made for her inaugural Clandestine Cake Club – lucky lot!
Easter Mocha Cake (gluten-free)
Just in case creme eggs really aren’t your thing, here’s another chocolate extravaganza to tempt you. This Easter mocha cake from the Gluten Gree Alchemist is super fudgy. It’s a rich gluten-free chocolate sponge laced with coffee and covered in vanilla butter icing. Although it’s a great all year round cake, it’s topped here with pretty pastel mini eggs.

Golden Egg Cupcakes
Pretty chocolate cupcakes are a boon to any tea party, but fill them with caramel, then you’ll have me hooked. Kat’s chocolate & caramel golden egg cupcakes over at The Baking Explorer look superb.
Easter Egg Daisy Cakes
The next one to use choccy philly was the amazingly energetic Karen of Lavender and Lovage who used it to ice her very cute little Easter egg daisy cakes.
Easter Brownies & Bars
Caramel Egg Brownies
Cadbury caramel egg brownies. Two of my favourite things wrapped up in this wonderful fudgy bake from Something Sweet Something Savoury. Chocolate and caramel are a match made in heaven.
Easter Brownies
I can’t help but sneak one of my own Easter chocolate treats in here. I have a lot of them, but reckoned these Easter simnel brownies covered those of us who might need a marzipan fix. Rich and fudgy, they include Easter spices and chunks of marzipan.
Crème Egg Brownies
And with Easter very much in mind this month, here’s gorgeous recipe for crème egg brownies from Elizabeth’s Kitchen Diary. They are the best apparently and gluten-free too.

With a nod to St Patrick’s Day, which usually falls around Easter, I have these luscious black velvet cheesecake swirl brownies with stout caramel sauce.

You can’t have Easter without some mini eggs and here is the first recipe in which they appear. Irresistible white chocolate & mini eggs blondies from Jo’s Kitchen Larder.

Mostly we think about eggs and cake at Easter, but it’s always useful to have a few Easter chocolate desserts up your sleeve.

Chocolate Shortbread
It seems we can’t quite get enough of Easter this year. The recipes have been coming thick and fast well after the chocolate festivities were supposedly over. Jo’s Kitchen Larder brings us these cute Easter chocolate shortbread biscuits with mini eggs and there a few bunnies thrown in for good measure I noticed.

There’s more Easter fun from Camilla at Fab Food 4 All with her easy creme egg cookies. They are crispy on the outside, gooey in the middle and made with pecan nuts.

Creme Egg Biscuit Cake
Tiffin is one of my favourite things so I’m really glad to see this no bake creme egg biscuit cake amongst these marvellous Easter chocolate recipes. I’m hoping Kate at The Gluten Free Alchemist has made this just for me.
Mini Egg Crispy Squares
I am super impressed by our second mini eggs recipe from Curly’s Cooking. Cat gave up chocolate for Lent, but still resisted temptation when making mini egg rice crispy squares. I know I would not have been so virtuous.
Mini Egg White Chocolate Slice
There’s been a lot of talk about unicorns in the baking world recently. I still haven’t quite grasped what it’s all about, but Lucy the Baking Queen has. Here’s her no-bake unicorn mini egg white chocolate slice.
Easter Chocolate Tiffin
And when you’ve had enough of all that Easter egg chocolate, head over to another of my posts for a scrummy recipe in which to use it up. This no-bake fridge cake is a perfect kid friendly project. Give your digestive biscuits, chocolates and all the fun ingredients a great makeover with this no-bake Easter tiffin.

You can’t have a series of Easter chocolate recipes without a few homemade Easter eggs and chocolates.

I had a go at making my own Easter eggs this year. Inspired by a Divine popcorn Easter egg, I made chocolate salted caramel popcorn and stuffed it into my Easter eggs. It truly was divine.
Mozartkugein
If you’re a marzipan fan like me, you’ll adore these Mozartkugein from Yumsome. Pistachio marzipan, almond marzipan and chocolate nougat encased in smooth chocolate. I can feel myself salivating as I type. And of course, they are vegan and refined sugar free.

More homemade Easter eggs, but chocolate Scotch eggs this time. Johanna from Green Gourmet Giraffe reckoned these might be her only chance of trying a Scotch egg and when it comes down to it I know which type I’d rather tuck into.

Foodie Quine has a thing for Tunnock’s Teacakes. She transforms them into all sorts of fun creations. This Easter she gives us Tunnock’s Teacake Easter Bunny Bums. Aren’t they cute?
Passionfruit Easter Eggs
Ros from The More Than Occasional Baker kicks us off in fine style with these impressive passionfruit and cream cheese filled chocolate Easter eggs. She assures us they are really quite simple to make, but I’m not sure I’d make as good a job AND she made chocolate spoons to go with them.
Easter Egg Chicks
We have more Easter delights from Johanna over at Green Gourmet Giraffe who had fun with her daughter Sylvia making these very cute Easter egg chicks. If you pop over to her site, you will also see some rather delightful chocolate carrots.
Fondant Filled Chocolate Eggs
