Chocolate Pistachio Biscotti with Orange and Cardamom – Gluten Free

Chocolate Pistachio Biscotti

It’s the second week in December and I’ve only just made my first Christmas recipe. Biscuits and cookies make great gifts at Christmas and when I’m organised, I like to make a few of them. I’ve started with these gluten free chocolate pistachio biscotti as I want to get a few sent off in the post and biscotti are great for keeping well.

Triple Chocolate Bread – Spicy Twisty Delicious

Triple Chocolate Bread

Bread & Buns | 10th September 2016 | By

The Great British Bake Off week three was all about bread. The first challenge was to make some sort of chocolate bread for the signature bake. Well, how could I resist? It didn’t take me long to dream up this fragrant spiced triple chocolate bread loaf flavoured with vanilla, cardamom and chilli. It proved (pun intended) to be perfect for both #GBBO and #OrganicSeptember.

Coffee Cardamom Chocolate Mousse Cake – Irresistible!

Coffee Cardamom Chocolate Mousse Cake

Our local cafe, Olive & Co, does a mean coffee cardamom chocolate cake. It’s more of a torte really as it contains no flour. I’ve been wanting to try making something similar for ages and with the arrival of the new Divine chocolate baking bars, the time seemed right to give it a go. I give you my coffee cardamom chocolate mousse cake.

Almond and Cardamom Rye Shortbread with Whisky Raspberry Cream

Almond Rye Shortbread

Last week, CT and I were somewhat shocked to find we’d been together for twenty years. How did that happen? To celebrate we both took the day off and went clambering around the Cornish coast. We also called in at the Canteen at Maker Heights. How could we resist the best food in those parts? There, sitting on the counter was a round of almond rye shortbread. Completely intrigued, I had to recreate it.

Spiced Turmeric Milk – a Super Soothing Golden Elixir

Spiced Turmeric Milk

Drinks | 30th June 2016 | By

Age is supposed to confer wisdom, but the main thing I notice these days is that my joints are a little creaky. I try to alleviate this by getting as much turmeric into my diet as I can. This is the first time I’ve made it the star of the show, however. Building on my recent success with hemp milk, I decided to combine these two oriental power houses to make spiced turmeric milk. If the hemp doesn’t get you, the turmeric will.

Pistachio Biscuits with Rose and Almonds

Pistachio Biscuits

Of all the biscuits I made in my epic Christmas bake last year, these pistachio biscuits made with almonds and flavoured with a little rose, cardamom and cinnamon were the ones that received the most rave reviews. So *drum roll* I’m finally going to give you the recipe. It’s the next in my Flavours of the Middle East series.

Mincemeat Buns Flavoured with Aromatic Cardamom

Mincemeat Buns

Bread & Buns, ThermoCook | 22nd January 2016 | By

I’m rarely as organised at Christmas as I’d like to be, but I do usually manage to make my own mincemeat. As I’ve mentioned in my previous mincemeat recipe posts, once you’ve made your own, it’s hard to go back to shop bought. And it’s so easy too. Here, I’ve used it to make the most fabulous mincemeat buns – soft, fragrant and oh so very moreish.

Twelfth Night Lemon Cardamom Marzipan Cakes

Twelfth Night Cakes

Leftovers, Small Cakes | 10th January 2016 | By

Every year I mean to mark Twelfth Night by making a special cake and every year I manage not to do it – until now. When it comes to cake, I associate Twelfth Night with marzipan, so although I didn’t intend to make a traditional King Cake or similar this year, I did want to include almond paste. And as I still had plenty of lemons left from my 3pFruits box, lemon marzipan cakes it was to be.

Honey Apple Cardamom Mini Bundt Cakes

Honey Apple Cakes

5 Star, Small Cakes | 8th September 2015 | By

Some say Autumn starts here in the Northern Hemisphere on 1 September, some say the 22nd. Either way the apple season has started and to me that means one of my favourite times of year with morning mists, clear warm days and cold nights – if we’re lucky. The first few apples have been gathered from my mother’s garden and honey apple cardamom mini bundt cakes were calling.
