If you like a cheeky cocktail or two, this Apple Mac is a good one for warming the bleak midwinter. It’s a twist on the classic Whisky Mac. The water of life combines with the fruit of the tree of knowledge and is spiced up with some warming ginger. It makes for a perfect winter cocktail.
For our sins, we’re an Apple Mac household, but be not afeared, this post is not about the IT giant and its associated paraphernalia. No, this is all about festive fun and a Christmas cocktail that will warm the cockles of your heart. It should please most people prepared to imbibe over the season of merriness and good cheer. Begone bleak midwinter blues.
Christmas Festivities
I’d really like to host a Christmas party so I can feature my Apple Mac. But we’re still so newly arrived, we don’t really know anyone to invite. We could, of course, blow caution to the winds and invite the neighbours. However, the house remains in a state of disorder, with a goodly proportion of our worldly possessions still in Cornwall. Next year.
Despite the chaos, I’ve managed to put up a Christmas “tree”. It’s actually a birch branch which we cut from the garden. This has been my preferred form of tree for many years now. We unearthed the Christmas decorations and there is now one corner of our house which just about passes muster on the festive and jolly stakes.
Apple Mac
My Apple Mac is a twist on the classic Whisky Mac. The water of life combined with the fruit of the tree of knowledge spiced up with some warming ginger makes for a perfect Christmas cocktail. It’s simple to knock up for a festive crowd and with its easy-going nature, it’s just what’s needed as a pre-dinner drink on the big day itself. Children apart, it’s an inclusive recipe as the ingredients are all vegan.
Apples are a very British fruit and have been particularly abundant this year. Use a good pressed variety such as cox or russet and make sure your apple slices are of a similar quality. The whisky ginger soaked slice of apple is like the icing on the cake. It’s a delightful sweet and spicy treat. Don’t waste it. The Apple Mac is also good served over ice. Just multiply the recipe as required.

Gosh, you are hard core! I’m not sure I’ve ever had a straight Whisky Mac, but I could become very partial to these Apple Macs 😀
Claire Jessiman says
Sounds deliciously warming but whatever you do, don’t spill your Apple Mac on yur Apple Mac!
Choclette says
Haha, no indeed. The two Apple Macs need to be kept well apart.
Dannii says
What a delicious festive treat. I could do with one of these after a stressful day haha
Choclette says
It really shouldn’t be so stressful around Christmas, but it inevitably is. One of these is bound to help.

Hey Choclette. Hope you’re settling in well into your new home ❤️ I think your Apple Mac would be a lovely way to break the ice with the neighbours. You should definitely invite them over!
Choclette says
Thanks Sharon. We’re getting there. I think you’re right. We just need to be around to do it. Maybe New Year.

The apple mac sounds really good and we have an orchard here, so an abundance of apples to make it from! Mich x
Choclette says
Ooh lucky you. I’d love an orchard. Home pressed apples have to be the best.
Elise Ho says
I have not ever heard of the drink you modified into this one but this does sound interesting. Is ginger wine the same as Ginger Beer?
Choclette says
No ginger wine is very different to ginger beer. Stones ginger wine is the classic and can be found just about anywhere that sells alcohol.
