Chocolate and Christmas go together like hand and glove. It’s the time of year when you’re allowed to indulge. Fancy a chocolate liqueur to sip on after the big meal? Or maybe you want to make cakes or truffles to share out during the holidays. There’s plenty of Christmas classics such as pan forte, as well as desserts, gifts and more in this collection of fab festive chocolate recipes.
November is generally my least favourite month of the year. However, we’ve had some wonderful weather here in the New Forest and the autumn colour on the trees is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Lots of cold crisp weather with blue skies and stunning sunrises and sunsets puts a real spring in my step.
To make life even better, we have a heap of lovely comfort recipes to inspire and lift the spirits. These festive chocolate recipes from bloggers around the world were originally a We Should Cocoa collection. I’ve subsequently updated the post so it’s no longer full of dead links and have added a few more recipes.
With that, I shall wish you all a chocolate filled December and a very Merry Christmas. I hope you enjoy the festive chocolate recipes below.
Festive Chocolate Recipes
The recipes come in no particular order. Sometimes I categorise my recipe collections and at other times I think it’s nicer to browse and take a chance on serendipity.
No Bake Double Chocolate Cheesecake
Kat at The Baking Explorer kicks things off with her no bake double chocolate cheesecake. Doesn’t it look phenomenal? Cheesecake is CT’s absolute favourite and I’m very sure he’d be tucking into this one pretty fast given the opportunity.
Vegan Chocolate Yule Log
An aquafaba chocolate sponge, smothered with chestnut buttercream, rolled up and coated in chocolate buttercream. Doesn’t this ultimate vegan chocolate yule log from The Veg Space sound incredible?
Chocolate Babka
A chocolate babka is a fabulous bake to serve for a special Christmas breakfast or brunch. This one from me at Tin and Thyme is in the shape of a round bundt. It’s thus the perfect vehicle in which to hold a festive candle.
Christmas Chocolate Shortbread
Shortbread is another of those items that are essential at Christmas. This buttery Christmas chocolate shortbread from Baking Queen 74 is topped with melted chocolate then sprinkled with crushed candy canes, marshmallows and gingerbread men.
Raspberry And White Chocolate Fudge
Fudge makes a perfect gift for the sweet toothed among us. I’m itching to try this raspberry & white chocolate fudge from Angela at Only Crumbs Remain.
Mince Pie Truffles
These elegant mince pie truffles from Charlotte’s Lively Kitchen embody the spirit of Christmas and I really want to try one.
Chocolate Mint Christmas Tree
Just look at this splendid layered chocolate-mint Christmas tree from Gluten Free Alchemist. It’s gluten free, of course.
Chocolate Salted Caramel & Chestnut Yule Log
Kat from The Baking Explorer is well ahead of the festive game with her recipe for chocolate, salted caramel & chestnut Yule log.
Christmas Gluten-Free Rocky Road
Slabs of chocolatey goodness packed with fruit and nuts is another festive must have. Dom over at Belleau Kitchen even found some vegetarian friendly marshmallows to go into his Christmas gluten-free rocky road which makes them even more appealing.
White Chocolate & Cranberry Brownies
Then there are brownies, white chocolate and cranberry brownies from Easy Peasy Foodie to be precise. If you fancy something a bit less Christmassy, sub the cranberries for the dried fruit of your choice.
Snowman Brownie Pops
When it comes to festive gifts, what could be more adorable than one of these snowman brownie pops from Sarah at Tales from the Kitchen Shed?
Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
If you’ve never made your own chocolate hazelnut spread, you can find out how to do it via the Kate at The Gluten Free Alchemist. Nutella eat your heart out!
Christmas Robin Cupcakes
How cute are these Christmas robin cupcakes? Angela at Only Crumbs Remain assures us that they are simple to put together and fun to make with the kids.
Spiced Prune Chocolate Pots
Great minds think alike. For my contribution to these 14 festive chocolate recipes, I too have made chocolate pots. Rich, unctuous and delicious my spiced prune chocolate pots are flavoured with Amaretto and would make a fitting alternative to Christmas pudding.
Chocolate Orange Cupcakes
Chocolate and orange is a classic Christmas combination. These sumptuous chocolate orange cupcakes with chocolate orange buttercream from Charlotte’s Livley Kitchen are bound to be popular.
Chocolate Fig Mince Pies (vegan)
Cute little vegan chocolate mince pies come from Johanna’s Australian kitchen over at Green Gourmet Giraffe. So into mince pie making was she this Christmas that she made three batches – lucky recipients I say. Figs, it goes without saying, were an integral feature.
Mincemeat Brownies
A fudgy slice of spicy, boozy, fruity deliciousness is perfect for the festive season. These chocolate mincemeat brownies from me at Tin and Thyme hit the spot. And they’re perfect for using up any leftover mincemeat you might have lying around. They’re also gluten-free.
Snowy Black Forest Roulade
And yes we have a #GBBO inspired bake: Snowy Black Forest Roulade from Sammie at Feasting is Fun.
Vegan Nutella Cream Liqueur
If you like your chocolate in liquid form you’ll likely want to try some of this vegan nutella cream liqueur from Nico at Yumsome.
Healthy Christmas Truffles
Chocolate truffles are an essential part of any celebration in my book. These vegan healthy Christmas truffles from Everyday Healthy Recipes are made with marzipan as well as chestnuts and other delicious ingredients. A big yes please from me.
Snowflake Peanut Butter Cups
I don’t think I’ve ever seen peanut butter cups look as pretty as these chocolate snowflake peanut butter cups from A2K – A Seasonal Veg Table. What a wonderful gift to receive.
Gingerbread Men Rocky Road
I’m unable to resist rocky road or tiffin at the best of times. This gingerbread men rocky road from Foodie Quine would make it downright impossible.
Baileys Real Hot Chocolate
Winter is the perfect time for making and drinking hot chocolate. Who could resist this boozy Baileys real hot chocolate with festive Christmas marshmallows from The Gluten Free Alchemist? Not me.
Homemade Lemon And Ginger Mincemeat
If you’ve never made your own mincemeat, I urge you to try it. Make a pot now and it will be perfect for next Christmas. I vary the ingredients I put into my mincemeat each year, but it always contains chocolate – that’s a must have. This year I went for lemon & ginger mincemeat in the hope it might ward off the winter bugs. It didn’t work!
Chocolate And Chestnut Cupcakes
If you have any tins of chestnut puree lurking in your cupboards, you could follow Cakeyboi’s example and make these chocolate and chestnut cupcakes.
Swirled Christmas Chocolate Bark
An easy peasy recipe for homemade swirled chocolate bark the whole family can enjoy. Perfect for festive gifting too. There’s no messy melting of chocolate in bowls required either.
Chocolate Truffle Christmas Baubles
And finally for something to hang from the tree, we have chocolate truffle Christmas baubles from Lucy at Baking Queen.
Chocolate And Fig Panforte
Ros from The More Than Occasional Baker kicked things off early in the month with something I’ve wanted to try making for years and still haven’t managed. Her chocolate and fig panforte looks delicious and from the feedback she got from her colleagues, who were all clamouring for more, it obviously was.
Fig Chocolate And Ginger Panforte
The Italian fruit and nut confection panforte was a popular choice and Suelle from Mainly Baking gave it a whirl too. Her version contained crystallised ginger as well as figs and chunks of dark chocolate. The flavours and spices used in this fig chocolate and ginger panforte is most definitely Christmas in a cake.
Fig And Chocolate Baklava
One of my many weaknesses – it’s all the fault of my Middle Eastern genes I’m sure – is for a truly good baklava. Hannah over at Honey & Dough made an aptly festive fig and chocolate baklava with added cranberries and all sorts of good things. Now if only I could try a piece.
Fig And Mincemeat Christmas Bundt Cake
I just managed to get my entry in before Christmas. I used a Spanish fig and almond wheel along with some of last year’s chocolate mincemeat to make my light but fruity, spicy and boozy last minute Christmas cake.
My fig and mincemeat Christmas bundt is not only totally scrumptious with a great texture, but it keeps really well too.

What a fantastic collection of chocolate recipes. I’m loving your chocolate pots and the slow cooker hot chocolate from Lucy. However the vegan chocolate orange loaf cake recipe is perfect as I have vegan friends. Finally those robin cupcakes win for cuteness. I shall enjoy reading each post and pinning the recipes to try.
