Just because it’s summer here in the northern hemisphere, it doesn’t mean we don’t want chocolate. It doesn’t really matter what time of year it is, everyone loves a brownie. If you fancy something sweet and fudgy scroll away and you’ll find all the brownie recipes you will ever need. And if you’re into blondies, there’s quite a few of those recipes too.
July is not only my birthday month, but CTs too. It was also my grandmother’s and grandfather’s and is shared by many of my friends. I almost know more people born in July than the rest of the entire year. So it really does seem fitting to celebrate the whole month with a favourite chocolate bake, brownies.
I’ve divided the post into two parts: brownie recipes and blondie recipes.
Brownie Recipes
One of the many good things about brownie recipes is that they don’t take long to make. They’re also in and out of the oven fairly fast, which makes them good summer bakes in my book. Sometimes it’s hard to prise bakers away from their ovens even in the hottest months.
Black Forest Brownies
Who needs Black Forest gateau when you can have these glorious Black Forest brownies instead? Packed full of fresh cherries, they’re gloriously fudgy and easy to make too. As well as chocolate, Kat from The Baking Explorer includes kirsch infused cherry jam.
Triple Chocolate Almond Brownies
It was touch and go with me this month, but I just managed to get my post for triple chocolate almond brownies up before I disappeared down to Devon for the weekend. I’m glad I got them into these 8 cheerful chocolate recipes, because they are rich, fudgy and totally decadent. I made them with freshly ground almonds, which not only made them even more delicious, but means they are naturally gluten-free too.
Bahlsen Biscuit Brownies
Decadent gooey brownies with a surprise crunch, these Bahlsen biscuit brownies from Sarah at Tales of The Kitchen Shed sound too good to miss.
Sweet Potato Brownies
Corina from Searching for Spice has also opted for vegetable brownies this month. In support of Bowel Cancer UK she baked up some healthier sweet potato brownies. Now I’ve seen the recipe, I’m itching to try them.
Chestnut Flour Brownies
Suelle from Mainly Baking also baked with a combination of chocolate and chestnut – chestnut flour brownies.
Baileys Cheesecake Chocolate Brownies
Great minds think alike. Kat over at The Baking Explorer had a similar idea to my cheesecake brownies, but used Baileys rather than stout – Baileys cheesecake chocolate brownies.
Cream Cheese Brownies
In a similar vain, I have a fab post for cream cheese brownies. They differ to cheesecake brownies as they contain a layer of full fat cream cheese and nothing else. They’re delicious.
Lingonberry Jam Cheesecake Brownie
In a bid to use up some lingonberry jam, Katie over at The Perfect Brownie decided that taking part in the We Should Cocoa jam challenge was the way to go. This delicious sounding lingonberry jam cheesecake brownie was the result.
Chocolate Orange Brownies
These chocolate orange brownies from Suelle at Mainly Baking are a good way to use up any Christmas chocolates that might still be lurking.
Snow Capped Meringue Brownie Bites
Crunchy meringues on top of gooey brownies sounds rather a good combination. Snow capped meringue brownie bites from A2K – A Seasonal Veg Table.
Chocolate Strawberry Brownies
Accompanying your brownies with some summer berries is a wonderful thing to do, but how about adding them to your brownies? That’s what’s been happening over at Jo’s Kitchen Larder with these chocolate brownies with strawberries.
Beetroot Coconut Brownies
Just look at the rich colour in these beetroot coconut brownies from Everyday Healthy Recipes. Beetroot is not the only healthy ingredient however. Head on over to find what else they contain.
Beetroot Brownies (gluten-free)
beetroot brownies (gluten-free) from The Gluten Free Alchemist
Hazelnut & White Chocolate Brownies
These hazelnut & white chocolate brownies from Proper Foodie must be the smartest brownies ever.
Nutella Brownies
Nutella brownies from Green Gourmet Giraffe
Tahini Brownies
We’ve got lucky this month and more sumptuous brownies have emerged from the Mainly Baking kitchen. These tahini brownies with a sesame praline crust sound unusual and quite delicious. Suelle deserves special mention as she’s been with We Should Cocoa since the very beginning.
Oreo Brownies
If you like Oreo biscuits and you’re a brownie lover like me, you’ll love these oreo brownies from Chez Maxima. I just don’t think I could be trusted around them.
Coffee & Walnut Brownies
When you need a good chocolate fix and a therapeutic baking session, Angela from Only Crumbs Remain reckons these coffee & walnut brownies hit the spot.
Boozy Brownies
Brownies are ever popular and with good reason. These booszy brownies from Caroline Bakes contain whiskey and are coated in an Irish cream liqueur glaze.
Courgette Brownies
Adding courgettes to cake is a great way to use up some of the summer surplus. Shaheen from A Seasonal Veg Table has done so with these courgette brownies, much to her nephew’s delight.
Ferrero Rocher Brownie Bites
I can’t resist a brownie, so these Ferrero Rocher brownie bites from Chez Maximka are very welcome indeed. One of the nation’s favourite chocolates along with one of their favourite bakes, who could resist?
Hidden Chocolate Brownies
Just in case you’re in the fortunate position of having leftover chocolates, why not take a leaf out of Elinor’s book and bake some hidden chocolate brownies?
Black Bean Brownies
You can’t have a luscious chocolate round-up without a couple of brownie recipes. But have you thought of black bean brownies? This recipe from Only Crumbs Remain is super fudgy and is studded with walnuts. But, hold fire, it contains no eggs, dairy, gluten or refined sugar. It seems you can have your cake and eat it too.
Vegan Dulce De Leche Brownies
And more scrumptious brownies. These vegan brownies with optional dulce de leche swirl from Green Gourmet Giraffe sound like there’s no option at all.
Coffee Brownies With Almond Butter
It’s a slightly healthier brownie from me this month. I love to indulge, but I also like to think I’m getting some nutrients from my bakes too. I give you my dairy free coffee brownies with almond nut butter.
Double Chocolate Pumpkin Brownies
Vegetables in cakes is right up my street and these dairy free pumpkin brownies from Everyday Healthy Recipes sound particularly scrumptious. Double chocolate chips, but low in sugar and saturated fat. And they’re vegan too.
Biscoff Brownies
I think Suelle’s own description of her entry from her blog Mainly Baking says it all – brownies with salted chocolate chunks and caramelised biscuit spread swirl. I really want one.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Caramel Brownies (vegan)
These vegan chocolate & peanut butter caramel brownies from Kat at The Baking Explorer sound almost healthy and definitely delicious.
Blondie Recipes
Blondies are very similar to brownies, except you make them with white chocolate rather than dark or milk. They work particularly well with fruity flavours such as raspberries. White chocolate is also good for showcasing colours that you don’t want obscured, such as the matcha blondies.
White Chocolate Raspberry Blondies
Raspberries and white chocolate make for a great combination in my book. You can whip up these white chocolate & raspberry blondies in no time and they make perfect summer picnic fare. From me at Tin and Thyme.
Parsnip White Chocolate Blondies
It’s always useful to get a bit of extra veg into your bakes I find. Shaheen from A2K – A Seasonal Veg Table has done just that with these parsnip white chocolate blondies.
Matcha Blondies
I fancied blondies for my chocolate treat this month, matcha blondies to be precise. Now whether these should really be called greenies, I leave to you. But whatever you call them, they’re jolly delicious.
Peanut Butter Blondies
A favourite combination of mine: peanut butter blondies from me at Tin and Thyme
Browned Butter Nutella Blondies
Brownies are always popular. Here we have these rather wonderful sounding browned butter nutella chocolate chip blondies from Something Sweet Something Savoury.
White Chocolate And Rose Blondies
Janice of FarmersGirl Kitchen went all girlie and pink on us for this one. Having trouble finding rosewater in the depths of Scotland, she eventually came across a bottle of rosehip cordial with which she made these very pink white chocolate and rose blondies.
Rose And Pistachio Blondies
After some experimentation with rose sugar and not being satisfied, Suelle of Mainly Baking came up with these very pretty Rose and Pistachio Blondies using cocoa nibs to give the additional texture and colour.
