A Bloggers’ Weekend of Dorset Food and Fun

Dorset Food Weekend

Last month a group of food bloggers gathered for a weekend of Dorset food and fun. If you follow me on Twitter, FB or Instagram, you may already have seen several posts tagged #HCBloggerTrip. The large country house almost looked as though it could have been built in the 1930s; it reminded me of an Agatha Christie style venue where the guests are bumped off one after the other. Luckily no bodies were found floating in the pool and the only victim was a vast quantity of Dorset provender.

Easter just isn’t Easter without a suitable bake. And as far as I’m concerned it’s all the better for the inclusion of chocolate. So, with that in mind, I wish you all a very Happy chocolate filled Easter and hope you enjoy my Simnel Mincemeat Easter Cake with chocolate apostles.

Energising Chestnut Chia Chocolate Pancakes & Maple Tahini Sauce

Chocolate Pancakes

When I ordered my latest supplies from Suma, it was around Pancake Day so I had pancakes very much in mind. I wasn’t quite sure what sort I would make, but I ordered a few things which might be suitable. With Easter fast approaching, I finally plumped for some chocolate pancakes for Easter, which I thought a fine idea.

Thai Green Curry with Jasmine Rice and Cashew Nuts

Thai Green Curry

Curry, Sponsored Post, Vegan | 21st March 2016 | By

It’s a rare day in the Tin and Thyme household when we order a takeaway. Most of the time it’s not only a lot cheaper to make your own, but it can be quicker too. This Thai green curry with jasmine rice and cashew nuts is a breeze to make and can be rustled up and on the table well before any take out is likely to arrive.

Spiced Rum Easter Chocolate Cakes – We Should Cocoa #67

Easter chocolate cakes

Easter is fast approaching and as it gets ever nearer, my thoughts turn to chocolate, although to be fair, my thoughts are rarely far from this exquisite food of the gods. Over the years I’ve made many Easter chocolate cakes, some more child friendly than others. These ones, containing rather a lot of rum are definitely of the adult variety.

Chip n Dip – Smoky Red Pepper Bean Dip and Chive Guacamole

Chip n Dip

I do love a good dip. They make a great starter to go with nibbles when entertaining, can form part of a mezze type meal and often make a great sandwich filling too. So when I was challenged to take part in a chip n dip exercise, by creating a dip, I was most definitely up for it. I also have an easy and rather nifty competition with a great prize, so do read on.

Sticky Banana Ginger Cake

Banana Ginger Cake

Dairy Free, Traybakes | 12th March 2016 | By

When I saw a recipe for banana ginger cake chez The Caked Crusader the other day, I knew there was nothing to be done but make it as soon as I could. Banana and ginger is not an obvious pairing by any means, but the cake just sounded so good – and it was.

Green Vegetable Galette with Flaky Pastry

Green Vegetable Galette 2

Dinner, Sponsored Post, Tart | 9th March 2016 | By

It’s been many a year since I set foot in an Iceland shop. I moved back down to Cornwall from Leamington Spa nearly twenty years ago and I certainly haven’t been to one since then. However, when I was challenged to “Go Frozen with Iceland” and create a tasty and nutritious meal, an idea for a green vegetable galette  sprang to mind. It was time to track down an Iceland store and see what I could find.

Chocolate Coconut Cannellini Cake for Mother’s Day

Cannellini Cake

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. I’ll be heading off to visit my mother shortly. I was going to take her out to lunch, but turns out she hadn’t realised the significance of the day and has invited friends over. So I decided to make her an ultra healthy, dairy-free, grain-free and refined sugar-free vegan cake instead. Why? Because I felt like it and thought it would make a nice change. So this chocolate coconut cannellini cake is what she’s getting.

Riverford Recipe Box

We get a fortnightly organic veg box from Riverford to supplement the vegetables we grow, but it was only recently I became aware that there is also such a thing as a Riverford recipe box.
