Why, you might be asking has Chocolate Log Blog now become Tin and Thyme?
Chocolate Log Blog has a new home, here at Tin and Thyme. The world of chocolate is a wonderful place, but it now feels time (geddit?) to move on and explore my other food interests.
There Will Still Be Chocolate
Chocolate will always remain important to me and will feature frequently on this blog. I shall continue to create and develop vegetarian recipes as I always have done, but they will no longer all include chocolate. There will be more of an emphasis on the exciting world of Cornish food and the South West in general. Although other areas of the country and world will continue to feature.
Whilst the focus of Chocolate Log Blog was, of course, chocolate, it has always been a fairly eclectic mix of sweet and savoury, indulgent and healthy, reviews and outings. I’ll still be mining this vein (geddit?) as I tunnel further into the mother lode of food and unearth all sorts of gems. I can’t wait.
Why Tin and Thyme?
My home county of Cornwall has always been where my heart lies, even when I lived away for many years. Bodmin Moor was my childhood playground with tin mines as playhouses, I wonder how many health and safety rules I contravened? The moor and its minerals are in my bones, literally and metaphorically. The spoil heaps are often adorned with wild thyme, a herb that also grows along the spectacular Cornish coast.
Incidentally, thyme is possibly my favourite culinary herb. Tin and Thyme reflects these two influences as well as having obvious food connotations.
For further insights, if any are needed, head to my About Me page.
Thank You My Lovely Readers
I’d like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to all the supporters, visitors and especially those who have commented: your contributions helped to make Chocolate Log Blog what it was. It has not gone however, just moved on and I do hope you will continue to journey with me into the new territory of Tin and Thyme as I relate Tales from a Cornish Kitchen.
Please bear with me whilst I am settling into this new site. There is still work to be done; the current header is only a temporary one, my old recipe cards no longer function and need to be converted one by one as and when I can find the time and there are various tweaks that need to be made. I couldn’t have done this without the invaluable help ofΒ Zoe Corkhill who has managed this move so efficiently. She’s also been rather wonderful in answering the many questions I have about this scary world of WordPress.
Thanks also to Helen of Fuss Free Flavours who is hosting my site and has also offered much needed support. WhilstΒ others have helped me along the way, Karen Burns Booth from Lavender and Lovage deserves a special mention.
I look forward to hearing what you think of Tin and Thyme: Tales from a Cornish Kitchen.

Hi Choclette,
Thanks for so many lovely and simple recipes. I had a jar of home-made mincemeat to finish so last week I made your mincemeat buns – delicious – and this week your vegan mincemeat muffins. I have to say, these were even better (despite my misgivings when the soya milk and cider vinegar seemed to curdle) and my husband agrees with me.
Sorry, I can’t provide photographic evidence. Perhaps next time I will remember to have my phone at the ready when they come out of the oven!
Choclette says
Thank you for the lovely feedback Nicki. Glad you found the mincemeat recipes useful. Curdled milk is just what you want, despite its unpromising appearance. I agree with you about the vegan muffins being even more enjoyable. Vegan bakes can be surprisingly good.

Choclette says

Johanna @ Green Gourmet Giraffe says
Wow I just started commenting on your latest post (sorry to hear it was a layer cake for a sad occasion) and then I noticed that you had changed your url and name and header and all – so I had to dig a little deeper to find out more. Good luck with the change and settling into WordPress. I sometimes thing of it but it seems a huge thing. But I have used WordPress in other settings and can see it has many advantages. I always love all your chocolate creativity and I will look forward to seeing this same creativity with non- chocolate posts.
Choclette says
Yes, I meant to write a farewell post on CLB telling people what I was doing, but the best laid plans …! Hope you weren’t to shocked. There will still be plenty of chocoaltey goings on, here at Tin and Thyme, but it does mean I can do other things too.
bakingaddict says
Congratulations on your new blog. It looks great and I can’t wait to read more about your recipes and tales from Cornwall. I’ve been toying with moving to wordpress for ages now but haven’t found the time or courage to make the move. I will be asking you for advice when the time comes! x
Choclette says
Ah thank you Ros. It is a big move and a lot of work, but I’m hoping it will all be worth it in the long term. Happy to help if I can.
Sarah James says

The Kitchenmaid says
Hello – and wow! I am a bit sad to see CLB go, but this is a lovely new look and the name is great! I’ve toyed with switching many times, so will be keen to hear how you find it. At the moment my blog activity is restricted to occasionally reading other peoples’ so I’m not going anywhere at present! I hope this means WSC will still live on? Lucy x
Choclette says
Hi Lucy, glad you found me. I probably should have put a post up about leaving CLB before I actually did, but it was all a bit made. It’s good to hear you will miss CLB, it all feels very strange at the moment, but also really glad you like the new one. At the moment I’m on a steep learning curve and have lost most of my followers, but give me a few weeks an I should have a better feel for it. And yes, We Should Cocoa is still very much alive.
Katharine says

Congratulations on making the big move π seems like you’re going to do just fine keeping your readership if these comments are anything to go by.
I’m also a huge fan of Cornwall and see it as a second home. I can’t wait to see what’s to come!
All the best.
Choclette says
Well I hope so Emma, butt I’ve lost so many followers that I built up over six years, it feels a little daunting. Glad to hear you love Cornwall too π

Elizabeth says
Congratulations on the big move! It’s not easy, but it really is so worth it. Blogger is a great place to start out, but self hosted WP allows so much more flexibility. Love your layout!
Choclette says
Oh I remember you going through it Elizabeth – there is certainly plenty to get used to. Good to hear there is hope and thank you for the kind words.
Laura says
A lovely new home – I hope you settle in well π Enjoy wordpress – I like it a lot, even if it does take a little getting used to!

Thanks Laura, I can see I shall soon get very fond of it – once I know what I’m doing π

Such a brilliant and brave move C. Well done and congratulations. As a long-time fan of CLB it will be sad to see that particular brand go but it’s totally understood and a fresh start must be so exciting too… do shout if you need any help from this bitter old dear. xxx
Choclette says
Thanks you Dom, it feels like a brave move and a rather daunting one – so much I don’t understand! Really glad you feel a bit sad about CLB going, you’ve been such a fabulous supporter of it – thank you so much. Bitter old dear??? Thanks for the offer of help, certainly feels as though I need it at the moment – eek!

Ive toyed with switching to WordPress so many times, just to see what it is like, but as I don’t know whether or not I would like it, ive done nothing about it x

Kate - gluten free alchemist says
Wow! Big move! Congratulations. Looks like you are going to have a fab new home here and I am sure you will continue to produce even more amazing recipes. I have seen a few bloggers moving over to WordPress recently. Does it have significant advantages?
Choclette says
Thanks Kate. it’s a bit of a scary move and there is much to learn and sort out. The main advantage I’ve found so far is that you can do so much more with your site than you can in WordPress. I’m hoping it will also be better for SEO etc as that was my understanding, but time will tell.
Kate Brusten says
Great new blog, Choclette. Looking forward to reading more!
Choclette says
Thank you Kate – it’s a brave new step π
Chris says
You always have done a good job and I am sure you will continue to do so on your new site. It makes perfect sense to me, although chocolate is always one of the most tempting ingredient. I wish you all the best with Tin and Thyme!
Choclette says
Thank you kindly Chris. I haven’t given up on chocolate quite yet π
Suelle says

Thanks GG – I sure am hoping it was the right thing to do.
Kath says
I think this is marvellous, I have long admired how you have managed to sneak chocolate into everything but I am also very pleased that you will now have space for lots of other wonderful things. You will soon get used to WP and love it. May the adventures ahead be wide and varied. x
Choclette says
Thanks Kath. it’s sort of fun trying to find ways to incorporate chocolate, but also gets a bit wearing sometimes. Now I can do just what I feel like π
Vicki Montague says
Well done! I moved over a year ago, keeping the name…but it was very stressful since I did it myself and knew nothing! Your new site looks lovely and the name rOcks! Good luck…
Choclette says
Oh thank you Vicki, that’s put a smile on my face. I had help moving and I’ve still found it rather stressful and there is so much still to do. I’m glad to hear you found it worth the move.

Congratulation on branching out, getting a new name and moving to WordPress – throwing a virtual bottle of champagne across your bow as we speak. Good luck:-)
Choclette says
Thank you Camilla – I’m loving that champagne π
Deon says
Congrats on moving. Your new site looks wonderful. I also recently moved to WordPress so finding my feet along with everything else! Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you write about. I also like the name. Think it is great.
Choclette says
Thank you so much Deon. I’m glad you like it. A blog is a very personal thing and it’s a little bit scary launching it on the world. WordPress is very different to Blogger I’m finding, but I’m hoping it won’t take too long to settle in.
Janice says
Congratulations on your successful move to Tin and Thyme, looking forward to seeing how your new direction develops.
Choclette says
Thanks Janice. This whole WordPress thing is a bit daunting, but I’m hoping it won’t take me too long to find my feet.
Tracy says
Great to see your new blog – you can’t beat a chocolate recipe so glad they will be continuing in your new home, but look forward to hearing more about life in Cornwall.
Choclette says
Haha, never fear Tracy, Chocolate is an essential in our house π
Jen says
As someone who has recently switched to a new blog name I understand why you’ve done it. I think you’ve picked a great name to reflect your Cornish heritage. Bodmin Moor and the northern coast are my favourite parts of the county to visit and I’m looking forward to reading your new posts and finding out more about the foodie life in Cornwall.
Choclette says
Ah thank you Jen, you are the very first person to comment on Tin and Thyme. You are not so close to Cornwall any more, so I will do my best to keep you informed π
