Chocolate and hazelnut is one of those combinations that have many go weak at the knees. It’s a classic Italian flavour pairing for good reason. If you’re stuck for inspiration as to quite how to use it though, take a look at this autumnal collection of chocolate hazelnut recipes.
Chocolate Hazelnut Recipes
The second ever We Should Cocoa challenge and my very first one to host was for hazelnuts. Many of the original recipes sadly disappeared from the blogosphere. But I’ve updated the post so that there are still twenty impressive chocolate hazelnut recipes. It’s quite astonishing how two simple ingredients can result in so many different creations.
You’ll find cake, desserts, cookies and more. All mouth watering and a feast for the eyes. Just what you need in fact for a bit of autumn comfort and delight. Do take a closer look by following the links. I’m sure comments would be appreciated too.
Double Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse
From new food blogger Phoodie of Phoodie Phile we have this very tempting dessert, double chocolate and hazelnut mousse . It’s made with both milk and dark chocolate and includes salted caramel hazelnut shards to boot.
Chocolate And Hazelnut Crinkle Cookies
These chocolate hazelnut crinkle cookies are my personal favourite. They’re rich, dark and chewy with enticing notes of roasted hazelnuts and a gorgeous fudgy centre.
Hazelnut Chocolate Éclairs
A first entry from Hannah of Corner Cottage Bakery has given us chocolate éclairs with white chocolate and hazelnut crème patisserie. These have to be the tastiest sounding eclairs I’ve come across in a very long while.
Hazelnut Mocha Cream Biscuits
Suelle from Mainly Baking, specialises in delicious cakes that leave me admiring from afar. She has produced some delectable hazelnut mocha cream biscuits that I would welcome on my tea table at any time.
Chocolate And Hazelnut Buns
Yummy, sticky chocolate and hazelnut buns come from Phil of As Strong As Soup. He has won my admiration for not only baking yeast buns, which I love but can’t get my head around, but also making his own hazelnut butter.
Dan’s Date And Hazelnut Bars
I made these date, hazelnut and chocolate bars for Christmas one year. They went down a storm. They’re filling, satisfying and a delight to eat.
Nutella Trifle
This stunning Nutella trifle is something you can knock up in half an hour according to Kate of The Gluten Free Alchemist. One of the special ingredients is Fratello (in the adult version anyway), an Italian alcoholic blend of hazelnuts, vanilla, cocoa and honey – I’m on my way Kate.
Chocolate Hazelnut Torte
Samantha from Caketopia came up with this exquisitely decorated and most scrummilicious sounding chocolate hazelnut torte for her father’s birthday. Lucky dad. It comes complete with a meringue top, a chocolate collar and caramelised hazelnuts.
Praline Chocolate Coffee Cake
My own contribution was this coffee chocolate praline cake. Two layers of coffee and hazelnut sponge, sandwiched together with coffee and praline buttercream. It’s then topped with coffee chocolate ganache, homemade hazelnut praline and caramelised hazelnuts. Can you think of anything more lush?
Hazelnut Amaretti
After a bit of “subtle encouragement”, Joanna of Zeb Bakes made these delicious looking and apparently simple enough for a four year old to make hazelnut amaretti with chocolate drizzle. Unlike me, she was brave enough to try tempering chocolate and her success shows in the lovely shiny drops scattered amongst the amaretti.
Chocolate Cobnut Meringue Pie
Helen from Half a Pot of Cream took this opportunity to make a recipe she has been sitting on for years. She used her prized Hotel Chocolat cook’s chocolate to make this lovely pudding that can be served hot or cold – chocolate cobnut meringue pie.
Hazelnut Apricot Chocolate Tart
Suelle over at Mainly Baking always comes up with a real treat and having seen her hazelnut, apricot and chocolate tart, I am smitten. Inspired by the much beloved Bakewell tart Suelle has used foraged hazelnuts instead of almonds with apricot jam and chocolate of course.
Triple Chocolate Hazelnut Crunchies
C of Cake Crumbs and Cooking heroically entered this month’s challenge, even though she doesn’t eat nuts. Her work colleagues, however, benefited from this selfless act and got to eat these toothsome triple chocolate and hazelnut crunchies.
Roasted Hazelnut Brownies
Fudgy chocolate squares with a deep hazelnut flavour. This recipe for roasted hazelnut brownies is a popular one on Tin and Thyme.
Ferrero Rocher For Giants
With only seconds to go, Ferrero Rocher for Giants made an appearance courtesy of Miniloader. She shows us how it’s done on a video but Traceloader (her mum) hasn’t yet figured out how to get it to me. If, between us, we manage to achieve this you’ll be able to see the action here some time soon.
Hazelnut Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream
And having missed the deadline completely I am making a one off exception (thought I should be generous as this is my first round-up) to Dom of Bellau Kitchen who came up with something different again. Ludicrously chunky toasted hazelnut and chocolate chunk ice cream – really, how could I resist that? Don’t do it again Dom!
Chocolate Hazelnut Tart
Now here’s a chocolate tart and some. This chocolate hazelnut tart from Mainly Baking contains Nutella in the base and hazelnut frangipane as the filling.
Roasted Hazelnut Bliss Balls
Healthy vegan and delicious. These roasted hazelnut bliss balls are made with all raw ingredients, except for the hazelnuts. A Tin and Thyme recipe.
Marbled Hazelnut Bundt Cake
A beautifully moulded hazelnut chocolate spread marbled bundt cake from Galina at Chez Maxima.
Salted Caramel Chocolate Hazelnut Shortbread Squares
It’s been a while since we had any bakes from Suelle over at Mainly Baking. I’m absolutely delighted to welcome her back. She knows just how to tickle my tastebuds and now I’m desperate to try these salted caramel, chocolate and hazelnut shortbread squares.
Coconut Nutella Scones
Scones and nutella are a new one on me, but one I’m very willing to try. Head over to The Lawer’s Cookbook to find the recipe for coconut scones with coconut nutella glaze, cooked in her new kitchen in her new house.
Hazelnut And Apple Chocolate Cake
Two chocolate and hazelnut sponges are sandwiched together with a layer of cooked apples and then topped with a rich chocolate ganache. This recipe for hazelnut and apple cake comes from Tin and Thyme.
Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
If you want to get your chocolate fix another way, Everyday Healthy Recipes has come up with this healthier chocolate hazelnut spread. Chocolate and hazelnuts are a winning combination that we all know and love.
Hazelnut Millionaire’s Shortbread
Following on from the Great British Bake Off’s Caramel Week, I would have been surprised not to see at least one Millionaires Shortbread recipe here. I’m not disappointed and this hazelnut millionaire’s shortbread with rum caramel from Recipes Made Easy is up there with the best of them.
